Dear Teachers, Students and Parents,

On Wednesday, November 18th, Lockney ISD had two staff members test positive for COVID-19.  All students and employees who were in close contact with these employees have been notified and directed to quarantine.  One of these cases involved a cafeteria staff member.  I have been in touch with the Department of State Health Services to verify the expectations of our response to this situation.  The DSHS emphasized that the people who have been served through our cafeteria are not considered to be exposure risks due to close contact.  Our cafeteria workers wear masks and gloves when handling food and regular hand washing is in full effect.  Nonetheless, if you or your child have eaten in our cafeteria over the past two days, please be mindful of the possible onset of symptoms.

Again, unless you were contacted directly by the school or the State Health Department, you do not have to quarantine.  Please continue to monitor for the symptoms of COVID 19.  If your child does exhibit these symptoms, please notify us so that we might extend our contact tracing protocol.  If you have any questions, please feel free to notify your campus principal.

                                                                                                                       Sincerely,

                                                                                                                        Jim Baum, Superintendent
